Of course I managed to lose a few screws at the worst possible time, but thankfully Squid Industries had replacements easy to find on their site. Ordering was quick, shipping was normal, and the parts fit just fine. made the whole thing way less frustrating and kept my trainer from sitting around useless...

I picked up a trainer from Squid Industries because I wanted to practice without worrying about an actual sharp blade. it does feel a lot better than messing around with the real thing, and so far I haven’t had any cuts, just a couple little pinches here and there.
The build feels solid and it flips smoothly for where I’m at. That said, the handles can still smack your fingers hard if you get careless, so I wouldn’t really call it completely safe like a toy.
Shipping was totally fine, though the price did feel a little steep to me. Overall, i think it’s a good option for learning, as long as you remember there’s still some risk involved.

I grabbed a few extra accessories for my Squid trainer and they all fit the way they were supposed to. No messing around trying to make things line up or wondering if I ordered the wrong stuff... everything just worked. Happy with it overall.

I picked up my Squid Industries balisong mainly for flipping, maintenance isn’t bad at all. The hardware is easy to get to, cleaning it doesn’t feel like a whole project, and getting it back together wasn’t nearly as intimidating as I expected.
But wow, dialing in the play and tap took a few tries, and that part got a little annoying. It’s not difficult exactly, it’s just fussy in that “why is this still not quite right?” kind of way. Overall I’m happy with it, but if you’re new, don’t expect it to be totally effortless.

I’m not saying it’s a bad product or anything, because it does feel really nice right out of the box and it still flips fine. Mine just got loose faster than I expected, which was a little disappointing for what it costs. It makes the whole thing feel discouraging, like what we say doesn’t really matter.

Say what you want, but I actually really like the clean design on this. The finish looks solid to me, and it doesn’t feel cheap or thrown together.

I originally got this mostly for the feel, but the sound kind of stole the show. It has this clean little clack with a slight ring to it that feels weirdly satisfying, like tiny thunder in your hand. It doesn’t sound cheap or obnoxiously loud, which I really appreciate. After flipping it for a while, mine does start to get a little rattly, like it’s had one too many battles, but it’s nothing dramatic enough to ruin the experience. Solid 4 stars from me.

Maybe other people have had a great experience, and that’s fair, but for me it felt a little shaky. Like, come on now, if I’m spending my money, I want to feel sure about it. In the end, I backed out

The box looked kind of cheap, and the whole presentation felt rushed and messy. On top of that, having to go through verification over and over again just made the experience more annoying than it needed to be.
